El Metro de Panamá

Metro de Panamá - Linea 1

The first line of the Panama City Metro is about to begin construction. Here is a video describing the first line of the Metro, which should be operational at the end of 2014.

This line alone, linking the Albrook bus terminal to the other side of the city,  should greatly reduce the traffic and transform the city.

In the mean time though, traffic is going to get a whole lot worse as the subway stations and above ground portions are built, along with some other 19 bridges and tunnels in the City alone.

This city of sweltering days and sultry nights may be best known for the Panama Canal, but Panama City is quickly becoming one of Central America’s favorite adult playgrounds.

Panama City is a city of skyscrapers and Miami meets Las Vegas glitz, home to 23 casinos, dozens of strip clubs, three distict bar and club districts and on the tamer end, hundreds of restaurants, dozens of spas and nearby golf courses.

A Day in Panama City

On March 7, 2010, in Panama, by sduford

Last weekend we had some friends from Costa Rica visiting us and we took them to Panama City for a day. Of course they wanted to see the Panama Canal and as luck would have it, a cruise ship was pulling into the Miraflores locks just as we were arriving.

Lots of people waving at us.

Notice how tight it is, I don’t think there was a foot left on either side!

Then we took them to the Amador Causeway and to historic Casco Viejo where we saw the sun set over the Bridge of the Americas.

As we were returning to the car, we met this beautiful woman and her girl wearing polleras, the traditional dress of Panama. They graciously posed for us. Sorry for the crappy flash picture.
