We had a wonderful day in Dolphin Bay, Bocas del Toro yesterday. My friend Chris hosted us on his 35′ catamaran. We cruised around the bay and went snorkeling over a gorgeous coral reef, one of the best I’ve seen. We missed out on seeing dolphins and rays, but we’ll try next time when Chris’ house is finished.
Chris: how can you leave this paradise behind and go live in LA?
This week these magnificent guayacan trees are blooming all over Panama. They are the yellowest and brightest trees I have ever seen. When the sun hits them they are positively luminous! They seem to be quite prevalent along the Panama Canal and int he Capira/La Chorrera region. This one was right in the city of La Chorrera.
Yesterday this drunken idiot was parading his brand new pick-up truck on the beach in Punta Barco when a bigger wave came in and pulled the car back out and sunk it into the sand so he got stuck. As the tide was coming up, more and more waves kept coming in and floating the car and pulling it back out. Two other pickups tied up to it and tried to pull it out to no avail. We didn’t stick around so I’m not sure what happened in the end, but I suspect this guy’s brand new pick is totalled.
